The event was a 5k "race" that began at the Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre. There was around 2000 women taking part who walked, jogged or ran the 5k to help smash the fundraising target of £175,000 for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.
Race for Life is an important way in which Cancer Research UK is able to fund its life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.
Sarah and Kay have all been affected by this horrible disease and would like to raise lots of money to prevent anyone else having to suffer like their loved ones.
They were taking part in memory Katie among others.
