Over £1,700 raised in Katie's Memory
Leeds United fan Gareth Boggis's amazing fund raising for Little Haven.
Here is Gareth's story.....
In October 2008, after Southend United had beaten Leeds United 1-0, Southend fan Paul Cox and Leeds United fan Gareth Boggis following a bet began raising money in Katie's memory for Little Haven.
The initial target was a couple of hundred pounds but to date over £1,600 has been raised. The bet involved Gareth attending a Southed home game wearing full Southend United colours and to sit with the most passionate Blues' fans in the Blue Voice section of the ground.
After the match he had to enter the Spread Eagle public house, a favourite with Shrimper's fans and sing Southend United songs and have his photograph taken with Southend fans. The photos were then to be published on www.shrimperzone.com. a SUFC fans' website As Gareth is a hardcore Leeds United fan and this was a big deal for him! It was just though a bit of harmless fun and Gareth did all that was asked of him at the Huddersfield game back in December. Sadly the Blues lost 1-0.
Before and after the event the money flooded in and the closing date for donations is April 30th so please, if you wish to donate, go to www.justgiving.com/paulcox4
