Charlie's Boat Trip
April 2011 saw Katie's half brother Charlie and other Little Havens' siblings enjoy five days sailing.
The trip, organised by the Cirdan Sailing Trust saw the 10 children plus helpers sail on The Queen Galadriel around the east coast. Please check out the Gallery above and please also read on....
In all 83 miles were covered by the intrepid crew visiting such places as Mersey Island, Harwich and Ipswich. Many actvities took place including rope work and eating the wonderfully prepared food!
A reunion has just taken place at Little Havens who were behind the trip and who spend much time with the siblings of their patients.
The Queen Galadriel is 32.9 metres long with a beam of 6.6 metres. She was built in 1937 in Svenborg, Denmark and was originally named 'Else' after the Captain's daughter.
In 1983, she was bought by The Cirdan Sailing Trust and went into service renamed 'Queen Galadriel' after a character in Tolkein's 'Lord of The Rings'.
The Cirdan Sailing Trust specialises in enabling groups of young people to experience the challenge and adventure of life at sea on large sailing vessels.
Despite the look on Charlie's face we are assured he had a great time. A gallery with other photos from the trip will be on the site very soon.
