Fund Raising Event in Norfolk
When Fan Brown, Katie's Auntie, decided to arrange a fund raising event in aid of Little Haven Children’s Hospice we needed an idea ..
She came up with the idea of a "Swishing Party" (sounds rude but isn't!) which is based on a TV show hosted by Twiggy. The idea is a group of friends bring along unwanted good quality clothes and accessories to swap.
You are allowed to take home with you the same number of items to that which you brought. Although towards the end of the evening that idea was abused somewhat!
A great idea but how were we going to raise any money? A "Clothes and Fashion Quiz" was hastily organised which would cost a minimum of £5 to enter. The generous ladies of King's Lynn put their hands in their (new) purses, much wine flowed and £300 was raised.
The swapping of clothes was, after a slow start, akin to the first day of the Harrods' sale and six rails of clothes plus a table of accessories were attacked by over 30 of Norfolk's best. The only men at the event, who welcomed the guests, organised the quiz and were wine waiters for the evening, were grounded in the kitchen while the frenzy continued.
We are pleased to say that although most "swappers" seem to go home happy there were a large number of unwanted items that made their way to the Little Havens' shop in Hockley.
